Children & grief

Whatever their loss. Room for their grief.

A loss is a loss. We aim to offer gentle care for children grieving someone important to them.

Support that starts with listening.

A child may be grieving a parent, sibling, grandparent, friend or another important person. They do not have to have experienced the loss of another child to ask for our support.

Tell us what you are looking for, using your own contact details. We can discuss a tailored book or grief support box, subject to availability. There is no charge, and delivery is available across the UK.

For young people visiting this page

You deserve support too.

If you are under 18, a trusted adult can help you ask us about a book or box. Our request forms are for adults to complete using their own details.

You can also visit Child Bereavement UK’s support for children and young people to explore specialist services and ways to get in touch directly.

A few gentle answers

Does a child have to have lost a sibling to ask for support?

No. We aim to support children experiencing any bereavement, including the death of a parent, sibling, grandparent, friend or another important person. A loss is a loss.

Who should send a request?

A parent, carer or another adult aged 18 or over can contact us using their own details. School and nursery staff can use the dedicated school support box form. Please do not include a child’s identifying or medical details.

Is support available across the UK?

Yes. Our support is free, and book and box delivery is available UK-wide, subject to availability. We will agree suitability and delivery arrangements with you before anything is sent.

When specialist help would be useful

Our books, boxes and peer support do not replace professional bereavement support. Explore specialist organisations and helplines for children, families and anyone affected by grief.
